Why You Absolutely Need a Blog on Your Website

“It’s too time-consuming.”

“It’s too much work.”

“I’m not a good enough writer…”

I’m sure you’ve heard all these excuses before. There’s something about blogging — and writing in general —  that stresses people out. Their main concern is that writing a blog won’t be worth it in the end.

I’m going to be real with you, blogging can be a big commitment. But it’s a commitment well worth the effort. Whether you’re part of a business, a freelancer, or a copywriter, there are tons of reasons why having a blog on your website is an absolute must!

How do we build connections with people? By talking to them, of course!

Blogging works the same way! Just by writing a blog post, you are practically “talking” to your readers. You can use your blog to help them get to know you and “hear” your voice.

The comments section of your blog is also a great place to talk to your audience one on one. You can use the comments to get to know your audience and build up a reputation of being helpful, friendly, and professional. Blogs also give you a platform to engage your audience on -- you can ask them to respond to polls, quizzes, or to sign up for any special offers you have.

Build credibility. Show them why you are their go-to source -- yes, you!

Blogging is an easy way to stand out from your competition. You won’t just be offering them a service -- you can also offer them a connection with you. And it is your personality, way of speaking and writing, and overall thought process that attracts them to you and your blog. You can use your blog to showcase your expertise, skill, knowledge, or qualifications. The more reliable your information is, the more your audience will come to value your website and your business.

Customers are especially drawn to blogs with a unique voice. Find a voice that works for your audience and stick with it. Is the voice more formal, or informal? Is the voice funny, helpful, patient, or persuasive? Something important to keep in mind: The more relatable your voice is to your audience, the more persuasive it will be.

Get out your whistle and get ready to direct traffic — your audience is coming your way!
