(One of) the First Things You Have to Do When Starting a Business
Quick question: do you have a website?
I sure hope you answered yes!
Every single business in the entire WORLD needs a website. A business just won’t be able to survive and function without one! 🙅
It’s arguably the first thing that you should do when starting a business. There needs to be a place on the internet for your business to LIVE. It needs to be easily found by potential customers near or far.
So if you've been busying yourself with creating social media posts and don't have a website to send your following to, I recommend setting that aside and creating a site first. In fact, worry about your social media posts LAST. But we'll get to that another time.
1. In 2020, every business is expected to have a website. If someone Googles your business and can’t find a site, red flags 🚩 go up! People will get turned off and feel apprehensive about your business if they can’t find a functioning website. Your website is your first impression so make sure you have one and that it looks professional.
2. It’s your own platform. Your website is yours! You can set it up however you want and share whatever you want. It’s your chance to showcase your personality and get people to know, like, trust, and BUY from you. This is your chance to stand out from the competition and tell your story. It’s also the ideal place for you to share testimonials!
3. When you have a website, you have the chance to compete with other brands in your industry. This is where SEO (Search Engine Optimization) comes in. If you can rank higher for keywords related to your industry, you can show higher on Google and other search engines and have the chance at competing with larger companies.
4. Facebook and Instagram aren’t good enough. For one, you are STUCK with a page that pretty much looks the same as everyone else’s. For two, it’s dangerously easy for people to get distracted and leave your page! If one ☝ notification pops up when they’re on your page, you’ve just lost a potential client/customer. They got distracted by their notification and left.
5. You can showcase your offers and freebies. When you have a website you can have pages dedicated to your offers, products, services, and freebies. You can even make it so they pop up when people visit your site! This gives people the chance to BROWSE and learn about you and all you have to offer. And if they want to learn more, they can download a freebie which means they are now in your inner circle-- the email list!
