5 Ways to Get a Customer Review

Something many business owners struggle with is getting reviews from happy customers. And I'll admit, it's a bit of a blow to your ego to ask for a review and then never receive one. It makes you think twice – did they actually like the final project or were they lying?

The truth is they probably DID like it but they're busy and distracted in their own life and either forgot or didn't have the mental energy to write you a nice review.

So how do you overcome that barrier?

You give them some guidance 🙌

Here are a few question prompts you can send to your client when the project is over:

  1. What problem were you having before you hired me and how did it feel to hand it off?

  2. What did it feel like to try to solve the problem on your own?

  3. What was different about working with me?

  4. What was the moment you realized my service was solving your problem?

  5. What does your life look like now that the problem has been solved?

Rather than sending a vague message asking for a review, dial it down and help them write it by providing some prompts along with it.

Sample:

Hi NAME,

I'm reaching out to see if you would be so kind as to leave me a review on Google? Just a few sentences answering the following question would be perfect.

What problem were you having before you hired me and how did it feel to hand it off to a professional?

Here is the link where you can leave a review (hyperlink). Reviews are what drives my business so your response is invaluable to me.

Thank you for your generosity and for trusting me with your project. I look forward to connecting again in the future.

Simple and to the point. Of course, you can modify it to make it your own but by providing a question for them to answer will make it easier for them to actually write something – and something good!

Always send a link to where you'd like them to write the review as well. The goal is to make it as easy as possible.
